Empowering Voices is holding a course in Yorkshire!
We are delighted to announce that Sheffield Hallam University, located in the heart of Sheffield, will be a course venue on November 7th, 8th, and 9th, 2025.
If you have checked your diaries, yes, you are right, this is a weekend course!
At Empowering Voices, we are fortunate enough to have lots of people who contribute ideas and help make the magic happen, and a weekend course is a brilliant idea.
The course will run from Friday, November 7th, until Sunday, November 9th. We will meet in a city centre hotel the evening before the course and start three days of brilliant transformational costal breathing on Friday morning, teaching stammerers to use the Empowering Voices technique. We will also give mentors lots of opportunities to either work on their own speech, train new people, or help run the course. There is something for everyone!
The location is Sheffield Hallam University; we have a large, modern room on the sixth floor overlooking the Sheffield skyline in the middle of Sheffield. One of the great attractions of using this building is that it is large and quiet over the weekend. This means we can use the many lounge areas, creating an excellent course dynamic.
The central location is perfect for train travel, only a five-minute walk from the station. Several premium budget hotels, such as Premier Inn, Travelodge and Ibis, are very close to the venue. We will let you know which hotel will be used closer to the course dates, but it will be inexpensive, comfortable and easily accessible from the course venue.
The course is available for booking NOW. Don’t worry about accommodation yet; premium-budget hotels use dynamic pricing. The best deals will be available two to three months before the course, but reserve your place now!
How do we identify a great course location:
Geography: The courses will move around the UK. This year, we will hold courses in the Midlands, Northern England, and the South West. Next year there will be more courses and more venues. We will hold courses throughout the UK to increase accessibility to stammerers who want inexpensive costal breathing courses and free ongoing support from the UK’s only charity offering this package.
Easily accessible: Brilliant transport links are essential. A train station within walking distance and good parking options.
First-class training facilities: All our venues are visited before each course to ensure the venue's quality matches our courses' quality.
Centrally located: Our courses are taught in the classroom but brought to life in real-world situations. They are close to supermarkets, shopping centres, coffee shops, and restaurants.
Comfortable hotels: We appreciate that stopping away from home can be expensive. We spend a lot of time reviewing the venue, location and hotels to ensure that as many people as possible can participate. Our courses are typically held close to premium budget hotels such as Premier Inn, Travelodge and Ibis; the course is important, but so is a good night’s sleep!
