Get
involved
Lots of people feel a connection with the stammering community.
With at least 1% of the UK population having a stammer, that’s 690,000 in the UK, or 900 stammerers in a Wembley stadium capacity crowd.
It’s likely that if you don’t stammer, you probably know someone who does. You might be a stammerer yourself, a family member may have a stammer, or your company may be looking for a great charity to support.
Mentoring
Helping people who haven’t attended a costal breathing course to learn the technique.
SEO and Google Ads
We have a great website, but the more people see it, the more stammerers we can help. If you have SEO experience or have run a Google Ads campaign (we have a Google Ads Grant), we would love to hear from you.
How can I help?
Whether you have decades of experience mentoring stammerers to control their speech and want to help run our courses, or you have a connection to a stammerer and maybe have a skill that could help, we would love to hear from you. These are some of the areas where we have volunteering opportunities:
Session Leaders
Helping to run the course by leading a session.
Promotion
We have articles in regional papers, but we would like to do more! We want more people to see our posters, maybe you could help.
Graphic design
We have Canva for Teams, but maybe your creativity can help us make our website, social media, and printed material really pop!
Fundraising
Every penny raised for Empowering Voices is used DIRECTLY to support stammerers. We don’t have any paid staff; everyone volunteers their time.
We are members of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations, Charity Excellence Framework, and the Chartered Institute of Fundraising, so we have plenty of fundraising ideas!
JustGiving
We are registered as a charity with JustGiving. They don’t charge any platform fees and process our Gift Aid claims.
As members of JustGiving, this allows our supporters to raise money in lots of ways, including:
-
Sponsored events
-
Personalised fundraising for memorable dates such as birthdays (who needs another pair of socks) or to recognise an important date such as International Stammering Awareness Day.
Grants
Companies and charitable trusts love to be associated with exciting charities. Help us locate grant opportunities and apply for grants.
Sponsorship
Businesses like to be associated with great charities. Help us attract companies or philanthropic individuals to get involved with funding our great work.
Empowering Voices relies upon the support of people who want to help stammerers say what they want, when and how they want, ultimately without fear. If you want to get involved, email us at hello@empoweringvoices.co.uk or complete the contact form.
Let's help more people tame their stammer.
